Hairstyles for Different Face Shapes

The type of hairstyle that you decide to go for should depend a lot on the shape of your face. You may see a picture in a magazine and think that it is the perfect hairstyle for you. However, once you go to the salon and get your hair cut into that hairstyle you may come out highly disappointed. This is usually due to the fact that you chose a hairstyle for someone with a different shaped face than yours. If you have a round face then you should choose a hairstyle that will complement your faces shape. You will want to stay away from long hair. A cute bob or wedge that comes longer in the front would look good on you. Also, you will want to avoid tight perms if you have a round face, this will only make your face appear rounder.
If you have an oval face then you will want to stay away from long hairstyles, these will drag your face down and cause it to appear more oval. Instead, try a nice soft medium length hairstyle. You will also look great with a light perm in your hair. Bangs will compliment your face shape as long as they are light, you will not want to wear heavy bangs so be sure that you specify this at the salon.
For a rectangular face you will look good in medium to long hairstyles. Try to avoid short hairstyles that come near your chin. You can do a light wavy perm, but you won't want to do a very tight perm. You should stay away from bangs because they will add to the boxy shape of your face.
If you happen to be one of the lucky owners of a heart shaped face then you will be glad to know that you will look great in any type of hairstyle, so go with whatever hairstyle you see that you like. People with heart shaped faces are very lucky because they can literally pull off any type of hairstyle, whether it is short, medium, or long.
