Hey - I was surfing the site and noticed the thread about help with television programming from a member. I have TiVo KidZone and it has really helped with blocking the junk and recommending good family/child content.
Videos are a good option as well, but may get boring after a while (at least for me watching) - kids can watch the same thing over and over.

| Another good one is Cox DVR. You can record just like Tivo and it has really good parental control. The Cox DVR also allows you to record two programs at the same time while viewing a third.[addsig] |
