Hey everyone,
I am new here so I am not sure if I am even posting in the right spot but I hope so. All my life I have had horrible periods...the ones where the first day was spent in a hot bath, with tons of midol/pamprin and a heating pad. I was on birth control for a while and it didn't do much for the pain but I had shorter periods. Anyway, I stopped taking it about two years ago. Last fall 2007, I was having sex and had serious pain and we stopped. That night I went to the emergency room because I couldn't move from the fetal position. They said I had ovarian cysts that were bursting. First they thought appendicitis which they ruled out. So I kept having the same kind of pain but not as severe for about 6 months and the obgyn I went to said oh it's normal. I switched obgyns and they had me do an ultrasound and found a tumor. I had a laparascopic surgery done where they removed the tumor and damaged part of my fallopian tube (this was in december a few months ago). They said there was no firbroids, no edometriosis and the tumor was benign. I thought I was finally going to be normal....I was wrong. My first period after the surgery was awful. I felt so sick, worst then before. I called the doctor that did my surgery and he said it could be just from the surgery blah blah. Well the next month came and it was just as bad. Not just that but I am still having the same pain on the right side where the tumor was (it was on the right ovary). So anyway I called and made an appt for tomorrow. Today I went to sit down and literally it was like I sat on a trampoline because it hurt so bad that I popped right back up. It was like a shooting pain from my pelvis up and I tried to slowly sit and couldn't. If anyone can give any thoughts or share any similar experiences I would really, really appreciate it because I am so stressed out and scared and worried. I want to have kids and now with all the issues I am having...I won't go there but I am terrified. |

| Sorry you are going through such pain and anguish. You must keep vigilant with these doctors. If you are not happy with the results always get a 2nd, 3rd, 4th opinion until you get answers. I'm quite disappointed to hear that doctors are not taking your situation seriously. Maybe finding yourself a female doctor might help you out more. |

hi there,
i also get ovarian cycsts and have since i started my period. i was on birth control for 10 years and had normal periods. now i can't get pregnant - have been trying for awhile with no luck and have tried a fertility drug with no luck. right now doctors dont really know the cause of cysts or have a cure, other than prescribing hormones like birth control, which dont really fix the problem. it is very frustrating, i have tried herbal remedies and diet changes also. my first gyno also did not take the condition very seriously, just prescribed bc - i switched to another gyno when i started to try conceiving and am happier with the wealth of information the new doctor has given me |
