I have two boy cats. One is a Tuxedo Persian, his name is Inkey. I also have a gray Tiger Striped Tabby, his name name is Cuddles. I have two Birds. One is a Blue Parakeet, his name is Lovely. The other is a Rare Parakeet, her name is Kayla. I know it must seem odd to have Cat's and Birds. I knew that as long as I kept the cats away from the birds I would be fine. I keep my birds in a cage that hangs from the celing. The cat's have no way of getting to them. |

Cats like birds because it is invoking their natural side of hunting and would love to have a bird if they could! My cat is always chattering at the birds and I keep telling her to keep dreaming! But my cat still chatters at squirrels, even though I'm sure she'd be scared of it.
Owners can encourage their cats to “hunt” indoors by hiding treats or bits of food around the house. Playing hunting games such as having the cat chase a piece of string or a toy attached to a “fishing rod” can also act as a substitute for hunting. |
