Hi,
I’m new to this forum and wondered if anyone else here had any of the same problems or symptoms as me and might know of anything that may help?
I’m in my early 20’s and my family has a strong history of endometriosis and infertility. I have had problems with my periods since they started. After having a few scans and blood tests I have been diagnosed with polycystic ovaries but I’ve been told that endometriosis is often only proved by a laparoscopic examination which the doctors won’t perform on me due to my weight.
I’ve been trying to loose weight since I was 14 years old, it never seams to happen. It takes so long to loose a couple of pounds and I just get so de-motivated. I’ve tried lots of diets. I’m often told by doctors my weight could be due to my genealogical problems and that the medication I am taking will also make me put on weight.
After seeing a gynaecologist, she put me on a tablet call Norethisterone which is supposed to reduce the lining.
About 2 and a half months after starting to take the Norethisterone I got extreme pain, and it’s pretty much constant. I haven’t slept through the night in over 2 months, I wake up every 2-4 hours and take more painkillers but it doesn’t do a lot for me. I’m now getting worried about my liver for all the painkillers I’m taking.
My GP tells me I need to see my Gynaecologist and when I went back for my last appointment, I was seen by a male specialist and told I don’t have endometriosis but have a bowel disorder. I am now waiting to bee seen by a bowel specialist, I am in constant pain and the gynea specialist told me not to take painkillers because that is what is inflaming my bowels.
I know I have bowel problems but I’ve always put that down to the endometriosis as diarrhoea is a symptom of that.
I cant figure out what is causing this recent bought of pain, why it is lasting soo long and why I cant seam to get any help or answers. I’m now just starting to get very depressed and lack of sleep isn’t helping. I’m also having to take time off work which is causing me stress due to hitting trigger point of sickness etc.
Is there anyone that has these symptoms? Has taken Norethisterone before? Understands what I’m going through? Has any suggestions?
If so I would love to hear from you. Also, sorry this is such a long post.

| Dear we are not skilled in any way to give you medical advice. But If your doctor cannot give you proper info I recommend you find another one that will. And make sure you write down all your questions before you see a doctor. This will help you get all the info you need. And yes sometimes you have to be forceful with your concerns. I also recommend a female doctor. I find that they are more sympathetic towards their female patients. |
