| Does anyone know any remedies for anxiety? I would love to know what everyone does who suffers from anxiety, because I don't know if I'm ready yet for medications. Right now I am trying some "alternative solutions" - I meditate (on ***** No advertising / Admin), keep a journal etc. but I would really like to know some personal remedies. Please suggest! |

| My doc suggested some mild medication . i ONLY TAKE IT OCCASIONALY (maybe once or twice a week at the most).Talk to your GP and DO NOT feel embarrassed about it. It's normal to feel this way. Otherwise try go runnining or pick up paiting or writing fiction. It HELPS |

| Working out... takes everything away. From time to time I get really bad anxiety attacks but I refuse to take any kind of medication. My sister suggested working out and I started to go out for walks, runs, and any kind of exercise. While working out I unconsciously begin to sort everything, whether it a problem or issues that are creating my anxiety. |

| There are so many different things you could try. I take Lexapro it helps me a lot. I only have to take meds for it until I am leveled out. Then When I am off of meds for it some times I use candles, and insens to relax. Som times a really funny movie can just help to distract me from life. I would suggest what ever you are into. As far as hobbies go, that helps you relax. |

| This may sound odd. However some anxity comes from the way you look at some thing, feel about it, or even approach it. In the last couple years I have done a lot of sould searching, and revaluating inside. I have found a lot of peace in all areas of my life from doing so. I know this would not help everyones anxity, or stress. It is however a great help in many ways. |

| Yes I agree.....even having a cluttered living space can cause some of this. Cleaning out all that crap and tossing it out can give you a feeling of renewal.....It's amazing how something as simple as that can make a huge difference. I believe it has a lot to to with taking control of things in your life. |

I am getting treatment for depression myself with a psychiatrist and he says thoes medications aren't addictive for they are design to be use for long term treatments, those that are addictive are pain killers and tranquilizers. I've suffer from social anxiety when i was a teen like you, unfortunately, unlike yourself, no one payed attention to me and i'd never got treated soon enough (until this year) and made me a very unhappy adult and led me to miss out on the life i've always dreamed about, to have no friends, to be afraid of getting notice at work, and no one who cares for you.
peacefromken: whe i was younger i used to try all of that you?d recomended and people just think you are week and wanna walk all over you, i used to think if i?d changed into a happ?-go-lucky girl who?d wore the right clothes , who said the same stupid things everyone does, who?d liked the same crap as the others i?ll be liked ...i?d stoped pretending long ago i can feel truth to my self yet its still lonely |

There is a huge difference between being anxious and having an anxiety attack. As far as anxiety attacks which my wife has regularly, here's the scoop of my knowledge.
1) They seem to be tied to her cycle. Always worse when she's getting ready to start her period or has just started it.
2) She went to multiple doctors about this and refuses to take medication for it. The last doctor she went to discovered that she is severely anemic. The iron deficiency is believed to cause this problem.
a. This is a LONG ROAD BACK. She has been fighting this iron deficiency for better than a year and is making marked progress, but she is not nearly home free.
b. She finds that exercise helps a lot. Being in good shape helps a lot. Discussing the issues with me openly and honestly also helps her.
This condition was so bad at one time that she couldn't go from our house to the mailbox. Now she lives a pretty normal life with some (rather insignificant) exceptions. Hopefully she'll overcome those exceptions in the years to come.
The problem with anxiety attacks is that they breed phobias. For example. You have an anxiety attack in your car, and the brain tries to analyze this and fault the car. Next thing you know, you can't go in that car for fear you'll have an anxiety attack. These phobias quickly mulitply and can endanger someone's ability to function at all. Big warning for any anxiety sufferers...do what you can...do anything you can to keep this from becoming an issue.
Will discuss more as this subject goes forward if warranted...in the meantime, I'll try to shut up. Ha!
Cheers. |
