Me and my man are about to buy a house /flat. We live in Rome but are thinking of moving just outside so we can buy a house with a garden.... flats in Rome are absolutely extortionate (imagine... 220 thousand pounds at the VERY least for a one bedroom place even in the suburbs). I have seen some beautiful places with high ceilings and wooden beams and terracotta tiled floors with fireplaces but in small villages twenty mins from Rome. Yet I'm worried about traffic (which is hell) and public transport might be just as bad, There is a train that takes you to the city centre, but God knows how crowded it'll be and how randomly it will pass. He works in the city and I have just landed a job near where he works (supposedly 30 mins in the train, but you can't say for sure till you try it...).
What is your advice? Living in a decent, smallish flat in the city or in a gorgeous house outside? Please let me know![addsig]

I think it will be all worth it. It will be your escape from the hectic city life. Just think how you have something so wonderful to look forward to after a long commute......a glass of wine, sitting outside looking out at your garden..aaaaaaah =-)[addsig]

Boy what I wouldn't give to have your dilemma Razz

I would vote for the house. Rome is a beautiful city, but Italy is a beautiful country. Especially if you work in the city, the house would give you the experience of in and out of the city.
